Rumour has it that The Scole Inn has hosted several notable figures throughout history. King Charles II is said to have visited the inn, along with his famous mistress, Nell Gwynne, while he was involved in the construction of the local church in Scole. The inn is also believed to have welcomed the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin and even Lord Nelson.
